“Designing and Building a Tree House”

 

 

Summer 2001 Building Bridges Campers

 

Building Bridges Camp will not be in session for the 2003 or 2004 Season.  We hope to re-open our camp for the 2005 Season.  Please check back with us next season.....

Participation in this Camp will provide opportunities for kids with Aspergers and related disorders to work together in a structured, goal-driven format. The group size is limited to 7 children. Space is limited! Staff will be provided. Children should bring a bagged lunch. Sodas, juices and snacks will be provided. Wear clothes that can ‘get dirty’ and bring along a pair of boots.

Sample Weekly schedule:

Day 1.…………..After a day of hiking and exploring, each child with design a tree house. Each child will make sketches of their plan. Books and other resource materials will be available.

Day 2.………….The children will share their *ideas* and sketches with the group and the group will collaborate and decide on the best plan. The group will determine and write up a materials list and schedule of events for completing the tree house.

Day 3.………….The site will be prepared and the materials will be organized for starting the project. Initial work will begin.

Day 4.………….The remaining work will be completed on the tree house building project. Children will work together with assistance.

Day 5.…………..Hiking, wading, exploring and more fun! Everyone (families included) will come at noon to celebrate the completion of the tree house. We will have hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill…a barbecue! Children will receive a memento of their accomplishment.
